In Monument Valley, Arizona, most prominent features have names. Monument Valley lies on the border between Utah and Arizona. However, most of the valley is in Arizona, and all of it is on Navajo tribal land managed by the Navajo Nation. In Navajo culture, the Three Sisters refers to an agricultural practice of planting Corn, Beans and Squash together, which is more successful than planting any one of them alone.
On a morning drive along the scenic loop, we noticed that the moon was in a nice position above the Sisters. We pulled over and took pictures as the moon moved lower. It was becoming more faint as the sun rose higher. This photo was my favorite.
