  • St. Paul has an active Japanese society. Every year at the Como Park Conservatory, this celebration of culture is capped with the quiet rememberence of ancestors.  Each lantern is provided by a family to honor  family members who have passed on.

  • Coming to Mounds Park is always a gamble.  Sometimes the sky is breathtaking, and other times, not so much. This evening began with these spectacular clouds, but by the time the city lights came on they were gone. In this shot, the clouds are the show!

  • The April full moon is called the Pink Moon.  Moisture in the air and the setting sun behind really  added a pink cast to this moon. Rising among the dense structures of the city,  it was easy to see the moon's motion.

  • When Minnehaha Falls freezes, the artistry of nature produces an everchanging scene. Water flow and outside temperatures shape the sculpture, often with spectacular results.

  • Ice at Minnehaha can appear multi-colored. While the ice from the flow of Minnehaha Creek over the fall is more uniform.  Ice that comes from seepage through the sandstone layers on either side of the fall can be colored by minerals and plant materials that stain the water.  The result is a delightful array like this..

  • I walked up from the parking lot at Fort Snelling State Park and followed a trail to a spot beneath the landing lights. I photographed several aircraft coming over, but this one was directly over the landing lights and the sun was just right.  Then the deputy walked in and told me I had to leave. I said "Yes, Sir!"  I had my shot.
